Neighbors in Action is excited to celebrate advocacy at the annual Advocacy Summit, held in partnership with the Disability Advocates Network (DAN) again this year. 

The Advocacy Summit is back with a new time this year. The event is from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Hamilton County Educational Service Center, 111083 Hamilton Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45231. 

“We all have a voice inside us,” said Caiman Hobeika. “We are friends who want to stand tall and be someone. Life may not be fair, but your voice can change that. Join us at the Advocacy Summit and keep speaking up.”

“This year’s summit will give you an experience to learn, make friends and telling your story,” adds Anna Leah Swafford, an NIA member. 

Neighbors in Action, often referred to as NIA for short, is a local advocacy group that is independent of Hamilton County DD Services. Amber Cowart, HCDDS Advocacy and Family Engagement Supervisor, works with and supports NIA. “The group, what they do, and how they operate is all decided and executed by the advocates themselves,” Cowart said. “We are excited to partner with DAN again this year and hope people join us for this great event to learn more about advocacy, meet new people, and have fun!”

The Advocacy Summit includes brunch, engaging activities, the John Romer Advocacy Award presentation, and an opportunity to share your story and engage policymakers. Read more about the honorees in this article.
