Advocacy Summit is Sept. 23

Neighbors in Action is excited to celebrate advocacy at its Third Annual Advocacy Summit, held in partnership with the Disability Advocates Network (DAN) again this year.

The Advocacy Summit is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Crossroads Church in Oakley, 3500 Madison Road, Cincinnati, OH 45209.

“This year’s theme is Mentors and Mentees,” said Matthew Brown, Head of Outreach/Director of Marketing and PR, Disability Advocates Network. “Bring your voices and opinions as we will have plenty of audience participation. We look forward to seeing you and we hope to make it an awesome experience for everyone!”

“It’s a unique opportunity to make friends,” said Victoria Miller, an NIA member. “Whether you’re new to advocacy or a longtime leader, this summit is for you, because your voice matters!”

Neighbors in Action, often referred to as NIA for short, is a local advocacy group that is independent of Hamilton County DD Services. Amber Cowart, HCDDS Advocacy Coordinator, works with and supports NIA. “The group, what they do, and how they operate is all decided and executed by the advocates themselves,” Cowart said. “We are excited to partner with DAN again this year and hope people join us for this great event to learn more about advocacy, meet new people, and have fun!”

The Advocacy Summit includes dinner, games and activities, and the John Romer Advocacy Award presentation. Read more about the winners in this article.
