Hamilton County Commissioners invite residents to gather on the steps of the Hamilton County Courthouse for the County’s annual Juneteenth Flag-Raising Ceremony on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at noon.

Hamilton County was among the first local governments in Ohio to officially recognize Juneteenth, issuing a proclamation in 2019 and making Juneteenth a paid County holiday in 2020—one year before it became a federal holiday. Since 2021, the County has continued its tradition of raising the Juneteenth flag as a symbol of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality.

This year’s ceremony will feature remarks from County leaders, community representatives, the ringing of the bell 19 times in honor of June 19, and the raising of the Juneteenth flag above the historic courthouse.
