5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Visionaries + Voices Northside Studio + Gallery. 3841 Spring Grove, Cincinnati, OH 45223

As part of the 2026 FotoFocus Biennial, Visionaries + Voices’s gallery in the Northside Studio will host Picture Perfect, featuring artworks by artists who utilize photography as a starting point and visual reference in their art-making processes.

Multimedia artist and sculptor Brian Dooley depicts images from found, online sources, using non-traditional materials such as Perler Beads and Shrinky Dinks. Painter Ross Bicknaver creates hyperrealistic landscapes from photographs he takes on his smartphone. Antonio Adams poses and photographs friends and mentors, then recreates them as painted portraits. DC-based artist Charmaine Jones draws portraits of her family directly from their Instagram posts. Painter and photographer Toni Lane paints directly on top of family photographs. All of these artists work specifically with photography as their inspirational source: snapshots capturing lived experiences, sublime landscapes, friends and family members, or simply beloved objects that become the springboard for art-making, giving the artist a reference point for their ongoing creative practice.

During the Opening Reception, several of our exhibiting artists will participate in a Panel Talk about their artistic processes, sharing with visitors the myriad ways they approach their art-making with the help of photography.

The exhibition runs through November 13, 2026.
