Grief Support Resources

Losing a loved one is hard. We're here to support you during this difficult time.

We created this page for people with developmental disabilities, their families, staff, and friends who are dealing with loss. Below, you’ll find grief support groups and other resources to help during this difficult time.

In Remembrance

Hamilton County DD Services will host a memorial service each year to remember the people we’ve lost this year.

Please join us on Friday, June 12, at the Nathanael Greene Lodge at Veterans Park in Green Township, 6394 Wesselman Road.

The service begins at 10:30 a.m. and will include a reading of names, a candle lighting and more. Please click here to RSVP. Contact Sean Bostic at (513) 614-7025 or via email with questions.

If you are experiencing grief over the loss of a loved one and you are a person with developmental disabilities served by Hamilton County DD Services (HCDDS), Fernside Center for Grieving Children is available for counseling and support.

There is no age requirement to receive these services if you have a disability. Small and large support groups meet once a week for four weeks.

Each week the group focuses on different topics, ranging from sharing memories to coping strategies. Music and art may be available for those who want to or need to explore their feelings in a different way.

Social stories use images and short sentences to help people understand different situations. They can include descriptions of feelings, what to expect and how to behave in new or unfamiliar situations. Below are social stories about grief and loss.
