Our partnership provides a fully accessible, universally designed restroom for people with disabilities at some of Cincinnati's most popular events.

Momentum Refresh goes beyond basic accessibility compliance. It sets a higher standard and removes a major barrier so people can attend events in their community and know that restroom access will be available. It also provides a safe, clean and calm space for families with young children.

In two years, HCDDS funded 100 days of Momentum Refresh, with 2,627 users and  2,130 educational tours!

Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services (HCDDS) is excited to work with Momentum Refresh in Cincinnati. In 2024 and 2025, HCDDS has funded this important service to continue improving restroom accessibility at some of our city’s biggest and most popular events. 

Momentum Refresh removes a major barrier by giving people with disabilities the confidence to attend events in their communities, knowing that restroom access will be available, whether they need assistance, a lift, or a changing table.

HCDDS is committed to building an equitable and inclusive Hamilton County. We’re making a substantial investment in 2026 so Momentum Refresh can continue to be a resource for our community.

Our partners include the Cincinnati Regional Chamber, Cincinnati Parks, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati, and many other organizations that want to ensure inclusion and accessibility in event experiences.

“I've been diagnosed with MS for seven years and it's getting more difficult to go out now that I'm in a wheelchair. But with Refresh here, I can enjoy a day out."

“My experience was really nice. I expected to have to use a porta-potty, which is extremely difficult to use, so this is a lot better,” said Aiden, a Refresh user at Cincinnati Pride. “My backup plan is always to have to head home and use the bathroom, so this lets me stay here longer.”

Momentum Refresh is a universally designed mobile unit that exceeds the requirements set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Each stop includes a professional attendant who can assist people and their caregivers as needed. Users must provide their own slings for the ceiling hoist.

In 2025, Momentum Refresh had 1,521 users, which is a 37.5% increase from 2024. “This is a wonderful service. It makes the community so much more accessible,” said Patricia, a Refresh user at one of the CSO Brady Block Parties. 

“It’s just really great to know that I can go someplace now as a disabled person in a wheelchair and be able to use the lavatories. Having something like Momentum—it’s a pleasure.”

What’s it like inside the Momentum Refresh vehicle? Qumi Kimble demonstrates the different features available for users! 

Momentum Refresh is equipped with a wheelchair lift, a powered height-adjustable adult changing table with ceiling hoist, adjustable grab bars, a toilet with a bidet, a powered height-adjustable sink, professional attendants, and spacious accommodations for mobility needs or companions.
