My Life – Fall 2025

Our fall issue of My Life celebrates the incredible journeys of people in our community and shares ideas and resources for your daily life.

Our cover story takes you inside the Transition and Access Pathways (TAP) program at UC. You’ll meet Duke Mitchell and Matt Maine, two inspiring graduates who show us what’s possible with the right support. From living independently to building careers, their stories prove that college really can transform lives.

In an essay, Sarah Phillips shares her honest perspective on transitioning from pediatric to adult healthcare. Her advice to be part of your own team is both practical and empowering.

We also highlight resources available right here in Hamilton County to help people stay independent, from housing assistance to home repairs. Sometimes knowing where to find help makes all the difference.

Want to connect with others who share your interests? Anna Leah Swafford explains how to start your own group, whether it’s for Taylor Swift fans or for disability advocacy. Community connections matter, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.

In our My Voice section, five local people share what makes them unique—from DJ Richard Timerding to author Vishal Rao. These personal stories remind us that everyone has something special to contribute.

And don’t miss the news section! You’ll meet the winners of this year’s John Romer Advocacy Award, learn about a new disability history project and more.

As we look ahead to fall adventures and the holiday season this winter, remember that your story matters. Whether you’re starting college, advocating for change, or simply living your best life, you have the power to inspire others!

Look for free copies of My Life in our buildings, throughout the community, and at the library branches in Deer Park, Blue Ash, Anderson Township, Monfort Heights, Oakley, Miami Township, College Hill, and Mt. Healthy.
